Awana Hotel, Genting Highlands

Hotel Description
Set close to the surrounding rainforest, this 5-star luxury hotel allows you to indulge in breathtaking views of the lush green hills and the surrounding golf course – all within the comforts of your room.

Room Review
During our 2D1N trip at Genting Highland, we've booked a Superior Deluxe room with complimentary breakfast for 2 person at Awana Hotel through Agoda.com. For a 5-star hotel, it was worth the price as it costs less than RM200 and the room condition is clean, spacious and comfortable. However the first glance you looked at it, it doesn't look like a 5-star hotel at all but a 3-star. Overall, we are satisfied with the room and had a good stay!

Double queen size bed
Now, let's talk about its facilities. This room includes flat screen TV, a mini fridge, kettle, iron & ironing board, dining table, bathtub and air conditioner. Tenants are able to enjoy movie night with its varieties of tv channels such as Fox Movie. (It was airing my favorite Cap. America movie that night!)

The hygiene of the bathroom is above average except the bathtub. It doesn't look 'clean' to me.

Suitable for family stay

Day 1: Dinner at Rajawali Restaurant~

We ordered:
  • Pasta Bolognese - RM25
  • Seafood Aglio - RM28
Inclusive of 6% GST

I was unable to finish my spaghetti because I put way too much of cheese powder. Ugh... my bad. :(

Day 2: Breakfast Buffet at Rajawali Restaurant

My overall comment would be limited choices and taste really average. It doesn't match the reputation of a 5-star hotel restaurant.

This is the only picture that I managed to take xD Sorry guys...
Before we leave...

Due to time constraint, we were unable to try out all of the free facilities such as swimming pool, sports facilities and the golf cart too. I swear I'm going try 'em out if I was given one more chance to stay at the hotel again.

The Notorious Three Wives Lane at Ipoh Old Town

Introduction
After a blaze destroyed Ipoh Old Town in 1892, its lanes of shops were rebuilt. Three of these lanes became gifts from a mining tycoon, Yao Tet Shin, to his three wives. Locals nicknamed the:

The Wife Lane     -  today's Lorong Hale
The Concubine Lane -  today's Lorong Panglima
The Second Concubine Lane  -  today's Market Lane

The area was notorious for its opium dens, casinos and brothels up until the end of World War II when it became home to many rich miners' concubines.

As Ipoh develops, the pre-war buildings on Lorong Hale, Lorong Panglima and Market Lane have been refurbished and respectfully repurposed, transforming this once colourful landmarks into a unique attraction.

Along the Lane...

Stalls can be seen selling local foods and drinks such as muachi, healthy fruit juice, egg rolls and etc. The DIY cotton candy stall receives most popularity from the children and the tourists. Here, you can make your own cotton candy in different shapes which costs you only RM5. My sister chooses flower instead of heart shape for her cotton candy.

We also visited a museum which is located in a souvenir shop, just in front of the DIY cotton candy stall.

Entrance Fee: RM1 per person

Highest Floor: Mirror, mirror on the wall....

The Potato Family :D

 Second Floor: Photo shooting corner

First Floor: Down to the Memory Lane corner

Look at their impatient face xD

We had lunch (brunch for me) at Second Mama Red Bean Ice.

We ordered:
  • Dao Ma Chieh 刀麻切 (Homemade Pan Mee) - RM5.50
  • Ching Po Leung 清宝良 (Chinese Herbal Healing Sweet Soup) - RM4.20
  • Ai Yu Bing Lemon Flavour 爱玉冰 (Ai Yu Jelly) - RM4.20
  • Half-Boiled Egg Toast 蛋治 - RM2.80

Finally, our final stop at Market Lane's main attraction before heading back to Kampar.

Location:
Concubine Lane
Lorong Panglima, 30000 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia

Remark: You are also advised to try out Teochew Taufufa at Kedai Makanan dan Minuman Ding Feng and Red Bean Smoothie at Second Mama Red Bean Ice, which are located along the Concubine Lane.
Besides, there are a lot of attractions to be visited actually but due to time constraint, I would not be able to stop by and try out all of the delicious local foods. *sobs*
Anyway if you have been there before and tried them out, let me know by sharing your thoughts in the comment section below! Cheers~ ;D
